iPad Buyback (2024)
Our school district is looking to sell all of our 1:1 student and staff iPads that we will no longer be using. None of our devices should be iCloud activation locked. You must meet the specifications that are listed to be considered. The devices will be available for pickup after we have collected a large majority of our devices which we estimate will be in mid November.
Specifications
You must not require cords and chargers and we must not suffer any deductions for not including them.
You must come onsite to pack, pick up and transport the devices with no extra costs to us.
Guaranteed minimum pricing (if providing a graded device bid) or flat rate pricing is required. For the pricing criteria of the bid evaluation, bidders will be judged solely on their the guaranteed minimum or flat rate pricing.
Please list per device pricing on the bid.
We must receive payment for the devices before they can be removed from our possession and the payment must be a cashiers/bankers check.
Devices must be picked up and paid for within 60 days of the request of the school. Failing to do so will result in forfeiting bid security and moving on to the next bidder.
Devices will not be sold individually and are required to be purchased as a whole.
The devices should already be erased, but we require that you erase any data that you find left on the devices for data privacy reasons.
There must be absolutely no costs to us throughout this entire process.
There must be no deductions for reasons other than device grading.
You must provide at least three references and one must be from another K-12 public school.
Providing a website for people in our community to purchase devices after you have refurbished them is preferred.

How many devices are for sale?
We have 1500 devices (Final amount will be lower due to devices being lost and/or damaged beyond repair).
What model are the iPads?

When are the bids due?
We must receive a sealed bid on October 4th, 2024 before 3:00 PM CT.
How long have they been in service?
3 years
How were the devices used?
They were used by our students and staff as a part of our 1:1 initiative.
Were they kept in cases?
Yes, all iPads were required to be kept in a case of the student’s choosing. Most of them were the STM Dux cases.
Will the iPads be in boxes when coming for pickup?
Yes, most iPads will be packed up in the 10-pack boxes they originally shipped in from Apple. If you would prefer your own packaging, you may use your own boxes instead.
Will they be sold with cases?
No, because the students purchase their own the cases.

Are the iPads located in multiple locations or one?
They are all at separate locations, but we can transport them to one location if needed. We have transported all of them to a single location.
Do we have a loading dock?
No.
What is your preferred evaluation method?
We require guaranteed minimum based pricing per device. If grading is involved, we need a guaranteed minimum payment for 70% of total devices at their respective full price, A Grade ratings. We also need to receive payment for this before the devices can leave our premises.
Are any of the devices damage?
No, devices that are being sold will be inspected by us to look for any damages. You may also inspect them before purchase.
Please note: Once the purchase has been made, the device condition is no longer our responsibility.
Who will perform the evaluation of the devices if we require one?
We will not be performing any evaluations as it must be done by the winning company on our site.
When will the equipment be ready for pickup?
After the awarded bid is selected at our board meeting. Estimated pickup time would sometime in mid November.
Are the devices engraved?

Do the devices have asset tags?
Yes
How many chargers & cords will be included with the iPads?
None, we will not be including any chargers & cords and must not face any penalties on your bid because of this.
If any devices are found to be password protected or otherwise locked after pickup, will the school system assist the winning vendor in unlocking them?
Yes
How many devices should the bid security be based on?
It should be based on approx. 1500 devices.
When will the remaining need to be paid by?
Payment will be expected before or the day of the devices being picked up.
What will happen to the bid security if we don’t win?
The bid security will be returned via mail.
